Is there psychological support available if I have trouble adjusting to my ICD?

ICD patients face coping with the problems of heart disease, spanning its limitations and its treatments, including both medications and devices. As many as 25% of heart patients also experience anxiety and/or depression over time. Increasingly, doctors and nurses recommend cardiac patients to mental health professionals. Your health care team will likely have referral sources available that can assist in stress management and adjustment to living with an ICD.
